ANOTHER WAY TO FIND HELP

No suitable drop-off nearby?

Your council or healthcare provider can advise on local disposal arrangements. A clinical waste collection service does not necessarily accept sharps bins.

Advice and collection information — not drop-off locations.

A LITTLE PREPARATION GOES A LONG WAY

Three steps to a safer drop-off.

01

Find your options

Search your postcode and choose a radius. Confirmed acceptors appear first, followed by unconfirmed pharmacies, with the nearest first in each group.

02

Check before you go

Call or email the pharmacy. Ask about your bin type, eligibility and opening times.

03

Follow your bin’s instructions

Keep sharps in a purpose-made sharps container. Follow your provider’s advice for closure and transport.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few common questions.

Clear answers for your next step.

Do all listed pharmacies accept sharps bins?

No. During early testing, the map shows nearby pharmacy contacts. Results distinguish confirmed acceptors from pharmacies awaiting confirmation. Confirmed non-acceptors are hidden. A confirmation includes its date, bin types and any restrictions. Contact the pharmacy to ask about your bin before travelling. A general pharmacy service does not confirm sharps disposal.

Where does JabDrop cover?

JabDrop is being developed for England. We’re testing with pharmacy data from Sheffield, Chesterfield and Derbyshire first, adding areas as service confirmations come back.

What if there are no results near me?

We may not have data for your area yet. Try a wider radius or use council guidance. No results does not mean that no local service exists.

Are yellow and purple bins both accepted?

We have not confirmed bin acceptance for the pharmacies shown. Ask about your particular bin and waste type, any eligibility requirements and charges.

Can sharps go in household rubbish or recycling?

No. Keep used sharps in a suitable sharps container and arrange proper disposal. Never put loose sharps or sharps bins into household rubbish or recycling. Read NHS sharps safety guidance ↗

What happens to my postcode?

Your postcode is sent to Postcodes.io to look up coordinates and your council area. If you choose “Use my location” and allow permission, your browser supplies coordinates for the distance search. JabDrop does not store them or send them to the postcode service. You can decline permission and use a postcode instead. Map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and the viewed map area. JabDrop sets no cookies, has no analytics and does not save your search in browser storage. Hosting providers may keep standard request logs. External links have their own privacy policies.

About JabDrop

JabDrop is building a sharps-bin disposal finder for England. During testing, pharmacy contacts are shown with acceptance clearly marked as unconfirmed. Names, addresses and phone numbers come from September 2026 contractor records; emails come from historical FOI contact data. Generated email addresses are excluded.

JabDrop is independent of the NHS and councils. We’re starting with a small regional test and will add areas as confirmations arrive. Confirmed acceptance is recorded with a date, evidence and restrictions. Confirmed non-acceptors are excluded; unconfirmed pharmacies remain visible during testing.
